VINTAGE 20thC PAIR OF ITALIAN ASTRACANE DI VERONA MARBLE OBELISKS c.1980
Reference Number: Z12437
Vintage 20th Century decorative pair of Italian marble obelisks, crafted from distinctive ‘Astracane di Verona’ marble. Each obelisk is raised on a stepped square plinth, with a rectangular lower section supporting the tall, tapering shaft above. The obelisks narrow from approximately one third of their height, terminating in crisply pointed pyramidal finials. The richly figured marble displays an attractive natural pattern of warm beige, cream and brown tones, with characteristic darker inclusions throughout, giving each piece an individual appearance while retaining a pleasing sense of symmetry as a pair. Elegant and architectural in form, these obelisks would make handsome decorative objects for a console table, mantelpiece, library or contemporary interior.
