Antique 19th Century German Black Forest carved seated bear holding up a stool, set with glass eyes. Such items were usually bought back by tourists from the Swiss / German borders (the Black Forest) and were a fashionable home decoration accessory in the latter part of the 19th century. They would adorn humble lodges as well as stately homes.
