Vintage 20th Century Tiger’s Eye stone box. Mounted with a brass hinge and lined internally with polished light-coloured marble, the box displays the rich golden-brown tones and natural chatoyancy that make Tiger’s Eye distinctive.
Tiger’s Eye is a quartz stone known for its silky lustre and shifting bands of light, an effect caused by fibrous inclusions within the mineral. When polished, it produces a striking surface that appears to move as it catches the light. Popular in the 20th century for decorative objects and desk pieces, it was valued both for its durability and its bold, layered colouring, ranging from deep bronze to honey gold.
