Vintage 20th Century pair of polished brass and copper petrol measuring canisters, once used at the pump by the London Borough of Hillingdon Council. Manufactured by Wragg Bros Ltd, these pieces combine practical function with an industrial character, reflecting their original use in fuel measurement and municipal service.
Check pumps were originally used to measure and dispense fuel accurately before modern electric petrol pumps became standard, making them an important part of early filling stations and garages. The accompanying canisters were used for storing and transporting fuel or lubricants safely, offering a practical and durable solution for motorists and mechanics of the time.
