Designed by Alphonse La Paglia, this silver Tazza consists of three plates decreasing in size, these versatile footed dishes can be used individually or as one, for displaying fruit or as an ornament in its own right. The pedestal of each dish carries the stylised fleur danoise motif from La Paglia's1940's collection.
Alphonse La Paglia was born in Sicily in 1907, he studied silversmithing in Denmark, with Georg Jensen. By the early 1940's he had arrived in New York and was creating jewellery and silverware for Fredrick Lunning (soon to become Georg Jensen USA Inc) 1952 and La Paglia is well established as a modernist designer of jewellery. In this year he and Kurt Eric Christofferson formed The International Sterling Crafts Associates. Unfortunately in 1953 La Paglia died , leaving his designs in the hands of International.
