Bustamante Copper and Brass Lion

This splendid brass and copper, lion sculpture is by Mexican artist Sergio Bustamante. Created around 1975, Bustamante has a distinct, almost Aztec style with his animal pieces from this period. This small lion looks as if he is strolling along the plains, with original glass eyes, copper mane and a brass body..

 Sergio Bustamante,a Mexican Artist and sculptor, he first exhibited his work in Mexico City in 1966, progressing from painting and paper mache sculpture, to working with brass, copper and bronze. 1975, saw Bustamante, creating Animal sculptures in this new medium. He is still creating beautiful things today.
