A cardboard table & 6 dining chairs by Tomotom designed by Bernard Holdaway in 1966 and manufactured by Hull Traders. Designed by award winning RCA graduate Bernard Holdaway, the range was constructed from cardboard, cut from heavy duty, large scale tubes used in industry with black shearling cushions. The range was debuted at the 1966 Ideal Home Exhibition. The material use and bold forms in strong colours attracted attention in the UK and Europe, with Domus magazine featuring the collection at an early stage. Holdaway extended his initial collection over three years, embracing dining furniture and a childrens range. The short intended lifespan was a key part of the design philosophy “The whole concept of people buying things to last a lifetime is ended” declared Holdaway.
